The only cannabis friendly events venue in Aotearoa

Whakamana is an education and community organisation, and events are how the community actually meets. We put on regular nights for medicinal cannabis patients, gigs and DJs, panel talks with the people shaping cannabis law and medicine in Aotearoa, film screenings, and the occasional thing that does not fit any category. Prescribed patients can use their own medicine at at every event. Some are ticketed, most are free, and all of them are open to anyone curious.

Live music and DJs

High ceilings, real acoustics, a stage under the arch, lighting, a huge rig and increble visual system. Gigs, DJ sets, listening nights.

Patient nights

Regular evenings for Calyx Club prescribed members: meet like minded people, try devices, ask questions,

Talks and panels

Prescribers, researchers, growers, lawyers, activists and patients, in the same room, saying what they actually think. Usually with questions from the floor.

Film nights

Documentaries and features on the plant, the politics and the people, screened big, with a discussion after when it deserves one.

Community and culture

Workshops, markets, art openings, First Thursdays on K Road, and 420 every April. If it belongs to the culture, it belongs here.

Your event, our venue

We are not a hire hall, but we do open the museum to groups running cannabis friendly events we believe in: launches, screenings, fundraisers, gatherings. Pitch us the idea. If it fits, we will work together to make it happen.

The venue

For events, the whole of Whakamana Cannabis Museum becomes the venue: the full hall, the massive sound system, the state of the art visual system, the exhibitsu, the device tables, and the shop.

Getting here is easy: we are right next door to the Beresford Square entrance of Karanga-a-Hape Station, so you can take the train to the door and home again after. Most K Road buses stop nearby, and there is metered parking on the square. Everything you need is on the Visit page.
